Sea Lord by Virginia KantraBest selling author Virginia Kantra’s Sea Lord book has been much awaited – and I’m happy to report that the wait has been well worth it. The last in the Children of the Sea trilogy, Sea Lord is an absolutely sensual and savory paranormal romance book.

Sea Witch, the first of the series took us to this amazing paranormal world where humans, selkies and demons (immortal children of the sea and fire respectively) try to strike a balance together. When demons started killing humans at the World’s End which is an island near Maine, the world’s balance was attacked.

With Sea Fever, the second book in the series, readers were introduced to a prophecy that could change the world’s balance of power permanently.

In Sea Lord, the final book in the trilogy, demons have struck at both the Selkies and the humans in order to gain supremacy and power. The book is about Lucy Hunter, a shy school teacher and Conn, a sexy and suave Selkie prince. Lucy grew up with an alcoholic father and as such has become a loner. Little does she know that she has earth shattering magic and power. It’s not until she meets Conn and slowly begins to fall in love and show more of her deep seated emotions that her magic comes to the surface.

Handsome and arrogant about his magic Conn sees Lucy in a vision as the only one to help re-populate his kind. Despite her being human he sets out to bring her back with him. Though he assumes he won’t be attracted to her and after all, Selkies don’t care much for emotional entanglements, he undertakes this mission in order to save his people. However, everything changes with their first touch . . .

The lush writing, beautiful narrative and smoldering passion makes for a fantastic read. Kantra is skillful not only in transporting you to a new and sometimes frightening magical world but she also does a wonderful job taking us into the minds and hearts of the characters. Sea Lord is a wonderfully gratifying paranormal romance. Check prices

one deadly sin annie solomonRomantic suspense writer Annie Solomon hits the ball out the park with this latest thriller romance. The interesting plot coupled with a well paced narrative will make you want to finish the book in one sitting.

Edie Swan hails from a small town, Redbud and heads back to it to solve the mystery that tore apart her family – her father’s death. Edie has revenge on her mind because before dying her aunt gave her a list of the people suspected of having a hand in her father’s tragic end. Unfortunately for Edie, soon after she arrives in town several of the individuals begin dying. Edie soon becomes the prime murder suspect and the townspeople soon turn against her. But Edie has a bigger concern – will she become the next victim of the serial killer?

Throughout all of this turmoil Edie meets hunky local lawman Holt Drennen who (for the time being) takes her mind off the killings. As Holt’s feelings for Edie grow so do his suspicions of her being involved in the deaths of the townspeople.

Edie is a study in contrasts: although she wears leather, has numerous tattoos and rides a Harley, she’s actually a fairly fragile and caring person. Solomon does a great job introducing us to Edie’s internal fears and insecurities. We actually root for her as she attempts to let go of the past and build a better future for herself.

Solomon successfully combines a romantic storyline with spine-tingling crime scene. Don’t get me wrong, this is definitely a romance book, but the sex is tempered with a great thriller plot. The romance and mystery taken add up to a truly page turning read. The book becomes particularly engrossing as we wait to see who’s trying to keep the past from being exposed.

The mystery and intrigue in the book last until the very end of the book as we try to guess who’s responsible for the murders. One Deadly Sin is thoroughly engrossing and Solomon does a fantastic job combining suspense and humor into the storyline. Overall this was a great read that romance book lovers will definitely enjoy.

How did this happen? Georgie York, once the co-star of America’s favorite television sitcom, has been publicly abandoned by her famous husband, her film career has tanked, her Dad is driving her crazy, and her public image as a spunky heroine is taking a serious beating.

What should a down-on-her-luck actress do? Not go to Vegas . . . not run into her detestable former co-star, Dreamboat-From-Hell Bram Shepard . . . and definitely not get caught up in an ugly incident that leads to a last minute elopement. Before she knows it, Georgie has a fake marriage, a fake husband, and maybe (or not) a fake sex life.

It’s a paparazzi free-for-all, and Georgie’s “entourage” doesn’t help. There’s Bram’s punk-nightmare housekeeper, Georgie’s own pushy parent, a suck-up agent, an icy studio head with a private agenda, and her ex-husband’s new wife, who can’t get enough of doing good deeds and saving the world—the bitch. As for Georgie’s leading man, Bram’s giving the performance of his life, but he’s never cared about anyone except himself, and it’s not exactly clear whether he’s sincere or not.

Two enemies find themselves working without a script in a town where the spotlight shines bright and where the strongest emotions can wear surprising disguises. Check out What I Did for Love – it’s a sexy, smart, and incredibly funny novel written by Susan Elizabeth Phillips that will appeal to more than just romance fans.
